JOB OFFER ANNOUNCEMENT

The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Canada is recruiting a Communications Officer.

The Mission:

The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda promotes diplomatic relations between the Republic of Rwanda and Canada. Additionally, the High Commission also promotes diplomatic relations between the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Cuba as well as the Republic of Haiti. Furthermore, the High Commission also serves Rwandans in the aforementioned jurisdictions. Moreover, this office is also the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Rwanda to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Role:

The Communication Officer will report to the High Commissioner and senior diplomatic agents. They will be responsible for ensuring the High Commission’s messaging is targeted, engaging, and consistent with the Mission’s objectives. The Communication Officer will manage the Mission’s digital platforms including the website and social media accounts; assist management and content distribution and develop out-reach strategies to serve the Mission’s public communications needs.

Tasks / Responsibilities

  •  Developing and implementing communication strategies to serve Mission’s objectives,
  • Creating and implementing effective social media strategies and managing the Mission’s social media calendar,
  • Maintaining and updating the Mission’s website,
  • Organizing media engagements for the Head of Mission and regularly monitoring the mentions of the High Commission in the media,
  • Managing the Mission’s public communications,
  • Upholding a strict level of confidentiality,
  • Completing any other task as assigned by the superiors.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, or related field,
  •  Proven 2 years work experience in communications or similar roles, Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Experience in social media management,
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite,
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise,
  • Excellent organizational skills,
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks,
  • Proficiency in English and French is preferred.
