1,006 students sat for December 2020 examinations. These were made up of 849 CPAs and 157 CATs while 2019 had registered 1,718 candidates made up of 1,364 (CPAs) and 354 (CATs).

There is a reduction of around 70% compared to students who sat in December 2019 and this is largely attributed to the impact of Covid-19, as the closure of schools was among the adopted measures to halt further spread of the virus.

The overall average pass rates for December 2020 sitting is 42% for CPA and 23% for CAT compared to 40% (CPA) and 37% (CAT) in December 2019 sitting. The slight increase under the CPA average pass rates is mainly attributed to students embracing IT and effective usage of online resources.

A total of 15 students – 12 CPAs and 3 CATs – have fully completed the CPA (R) and CAT (R) qualifications, respectively. This brings the total to 95 candidates who have completed the CPA(R) qualification and 183 candidates who have completed the CAT(R) qualification.

The institute has congratulates all candidates who passed their various examination papers and those that have completed CPA (R) and CAT (R) qualifications and their  commiserations to those that did not make it this time round.

ICPAR   again reminds  that “Failure doesn’t mean you are a failure ,  it just means you haven’t succeeded yet”.  And with the enhanced flexibility where the number of sittings has increased to three (3) effective next year i.e. April, August, and December, this provides  students   an opportunity to re-sit for the failed exam early enough.

The management of ICPAR  thank    examiners, moderators, markers, security teams, invigilators, staff, and other service providers  and  appreciated  them  for their contributions towards a successful examination process.

The Institute  of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR)  is the sole professional accountancy organization established by law No. 11/2008 of 6th May 2008 with a broad mandate to grow and regulate the accountancy profession.

ICPAR was admitted and as an associate member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in 2012  and  now  has achieved full membership of the International Federation of Accountants.
